In case you missed Part I of the Survival Challenge a few months ago, you can find it at the link below, and still test your skills at surviving a day in a hostile new world! In case you’ve been wondering where on earth Part II has been, well wonder no more – it is currently being written and we are aiming to have it released by 25 November. We’re intending for it to be over double the length of the previous Challenge, with much heftier – and more difficult – decisions to make based on the situation you found yourself in at the end of Part I.
In the meantime, don’t forget to drop by the forums and let us know what you thought of Part I – praise, criticism, comments are all welcome!

This Sunday past, Michelle Paver took part in the Fall 2012 Clancast here on www.jointheclan.com! Additionally, you’ll be able to hear her give some behind-the-scenes info on the first book, Gods and Warriors, and some insight as to how she recreated the Bronze Age world in which the story takes place, particularly with regards to some of the book’s less human characters! Just a quick notice to let you know that the art and writing competitions held on The Clan since its beginning have returned this autumn in the form of the new Quarterly Competitions! Check out the announcement in the Quarterly Competitions forum by MidnightSWolf for more details, but in a nutshell, the new competitions combine the best of both the artistic and writing competitions with a new, totally open format – you can choose whatever medium you wish (whether painting, writing, sketching, sculpting, singing or anything else you can think of – we dare somebody to enter through the medium of interpretative dance!) as long as your entry fits the theme of this quarter’s competition. This time, the theme is Gods and Goddesses. For more info check out the announcement in the Quarterly Competitions forum!
Gather round, brave Clanners, to try your hand at survival in one of the most desperate and dangerous situations you can think of. Washed up on a beach alone, starving, with nothing but rags to your name, you face a struggle that will challenge you and force you to keep all your wits about you as you contend with starvation, the elements, and even the wild beasts of a forest simply to stay alive. You’re not alone, though – you’ll be able to compare notes with your fellow Clanners in the GODS AND WARRIORS forum and see who is doomed to death, who is struggling for survival and who is a born Survivor!
PLEASE NOTE! The Survival Challenge uses a different format to the vBulletin forums we use here on The Clan. You will need to re-register when it asks you to login; you can use the same username and email you’ve used for The Clan forums (in fact it’s easier if you do).

As you may have seen on the Clan Events page, Michelle Paver, author of Gods and Warriors, will be visiting Gothenburg from the 27th until the 29th September at the Gothenburg Book Fair! Any Swedish readers – or anybody in Gothenburg around that time – if you’re a fan of Gods and Warriors, the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness or Dark Matter, get in touch for more details about Michelle’s visit! It’s Michelle’s last overseas trip before the end of October so if you’re in the area, be sure to get in touch!
Michelle will be at Cheltenham Festival on Saturday 13th October to introduce her new series, Gods and Warriors, and we’ve got four tickets to give away to one lucky person! So if you want to hear Michelle talk about what inspired her to write the series and where her research for these books has taken her simply email Puffin on godsandwarriors@uk.penguingroup.com with the subject line Prize draw: Cheltenham Festival. You’ll need to include your name, address and email address in the email. Entries must be received by 30th September 2012 and please be aware that travel and expenses must be covered by the winner, and will not be part of the prize.

It’s the 27th August and that means one thing – GODS AND WARRIORS has been released in the UK! We hope you’re as excited as we are – we can’t wait to hear what you think about the first in Michelle’s brand new series set in the Bronze Age. Don’t forget, you can also hear the entire first chapter FREE, here on The Clan.
